"The Creation" A Poem by James Weldon Johnson


This poem is a retelling of the Jewish/Christian creation story found in the Bible book of Genesis, chapter 1.  It affirms that God is the creator of the world and all that is in it. Today we live in a society that is very interested in details.  We want to know how, when and where.  The book of Genesis is less concerned with when, where, and how and more concerned with asking the questions of who created the world, and why. 


Laudato Si': On Care for Our Common Home by Pope Francis

Pope Francis has written a major teaching on the environment in the form of an encyclical.  This encyclical is a letter addressed to the people of the world, outlining a Christian response to our current crisis.

Caring for God's Creation “Young people demand change. They wonder how anyone can cla im to be building a better future without thinking of the environmental crisis and the sufferings of the excluded.”                                       Pope Francis, On Care for Our Common Home Final Projects Choose one of these five projects listed on the slides below.  Each of the projects deals with a different way to care for God's creation.  Do the activities suggested on the project you choose and be prepared to give a short presentation using a poster, slide show, or talk/paper (a paragraph or two).  Please email the poster/slides/talk/paper to faithform@staugustinesparish.org.
